Practical Biosafety in A Pandemic
Objective: To discuss situations that the clinicians/ ID Physicians, Pathologists, Diagnosticians, Microbiologists and Technologists on the ground, forensic pathologists and legislators have encountered, which have biosafety challenges. Presenters will draw on their experiences in previous pandemics such as the 2003 SARS epidemic and the 2009 H1N1 Influenza pandemic, which will illustrate the problems and their solutions to what they faced. The panel will focus on laboratory issues and one presenter will also discuss how a working risk assessment of the organism is done, prior to complete information being available at the time. Each speaker will give a short presentation and this will be followed by a round table discussion.
